alright, now there's a crazy "Family Hub" refrigerator
it has a gigantic screen on the front, where you can track everything that's related to the fridge
think information on groceries
control media playback? of music? in your kitchen?
because why wouldn't you use your fridge as a media control for your home speaker system.
there's an internet browser
it's a 21.5" touchscreen, put vertically on the right door
you can message the fridge and manage the calendar from your phones
You can be at the grocery store, and see a photo of the inside of your fridge
it takes a new photo every single time the fridge door is closed
MasterCard is on board and integrated here, so you can buy kitchen items from the fridge.
"Groceries by MasterCard" in the Family Hub
MasterCard is partnering with a variety of grocery stores so you can choose where to order from
and get the groceries ordered directly to your door.
You have a companion mobile app on your phone as well, so you can add items outside of the house and have a single checkout back at home.
(and no, you don't have to use a MasterCard)
So of course, this fridge is integrated with SmartThings
sit in bed and turn off the lights of the fridge. Of course?
You can stream music and video directly from your Samsung TV to your fridge.
Available this spring, if you're dying to go buy a new fridge.
Samsung is actually promising regular software updates for your fridge.
And we're done with that.
Alanna Cotton, VP of Samsung Electronics America is on stage
(You may remember her from the Galaxy Note 5 announcement)
Wrapping up the year that was
The Galaxy S6 edge, shown off in that beautiful green we don't get in the US
and of course the Galaxy Tab S2, and Gear S2
Gear VR is hitting "widespread adoption"
Going through the progression of Gear smartwatches
(things have come a long way since the Galaxy Gear, no doubt)
The Gear S2 has two new colors available. Rose gold and Platinum.
That's for the "Classic" Gear S2, with standard straps and such.
That's added to the silver and black anodized models previously announced
Because anyone who is anyone has a rose gold watch nowadays, right?
There are custom watchbands coming out, as well as new watch faces
And now we're talking apps — Uber, eBay, etc ...
(those apps were announced before, and hey they aren't here yet! I'll believe it when I see it)
Samsung Pay is coming to the Gear S2 this year, too, which will be a big deal
The Gear S2 is going to be compatible with iOS later this year, too
And hey, a new tablet. that was random.
Big, with a pen, and a keyboard ... seen this before
Samsung Galaxy TabPro S, running Windows 10
big tablet, productivity focused
So now we have a "galaxy" tablet running Windows. Again?
Galaxy doesn't mean Android anymore, I guess
Tim Baxter back out there
and now the devices are all rolling out onto the stage on their own. together. creepily.
"Innovation that matters" is the tagline for the whole group
interesting stuff, all around.
